This term the Early Years Foundation Stage have enjoyed exploring a range of traditional tales. These have included Rapunzel, The Three Little Pigs and Elves and the Shoemaker. Our role-play areas have reflected this theme. The Explorer Class have been having fun in the bear’s house from Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the Adventurer Class have played in the witch’s cottage from Hansel and Gretel. Finally, the Challenger Class have enjoyed being in the giant’s house from Jack and the Beanstalk. The children have also been role playing and exploring different traditional tales in our outside areas.
This term Reception have been using their 5 senses to explore the forest area. The children were particularly excited to investigate the area during the very cold weather, when they found ice, frost and snow. They have been using their sense of hearing to create fun instruments and they have also been showing how we care for our environment by picking up litter and keeping the forest tidy.
This term we have all been involved in our annual Nativity Performance. The children worked hard to learn a number of songs for the show and they were all given a special role to play. Some children were the musicians who played a range of instruments throughout the performance. Other roles included Mary, Joseph, angels, villagers, inn keepers, shepherds, animals, kings, stars and narrators. The Nativity was performed three times, once to pupils in the school and twice to parents and carers.
The children were all fabulous and we are so proud of each and every one of them.
In Challengers this term we have enjoyed exploring counting in our forest area.
It has been a busy term we have done many things for the first time such as PE, having school dinners and learning to read our first words.
