During Term 5 1E have learnt lots about plants. We planted broad bean plants, cared for them and watched them grow. We also created our own artwork to show the different parts of a plant.
This term we have been working hard to understand fractions and used pictures of food to help us recognise halves and quarters.
During Term 4 1E have learnt lots about animals. We went on a trip to Wingham Wildlife Park and could name and recognise lots of different animals. We even discussed whether or not they were herbivores, carnivores or omnivores.
We also learnt lots about toys and compared toys from the past to toys now. We then made our own toy sock puppets.
During Term 3 1E have learnt lots about nurses. We had a nurse come in to visit us and tell us all about her job. We then learnt about nurses from the past and looked at Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. 1E couldn’t believe how dirty hospitals used to be!
We have also learnt about Animals Including Humans in Science. We have sung songs to learn the names of the parts of our bodies and had lots of fun labelling our partner.
During Term 2 1E have learnt lots about Non-Fiction and Guy Fawkes! We have explored Non-Fiction books and then used Non-Fiction sources to learn all about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot. We even created a piece of artwork based on our experiences of fireworks.
We have also been exploring Everyday Materials in our Science lessons and conducted experiments as a class to find the best material to use for a roof and curtains.
1E have made the most of the weather this term and have spent lots of time outside. In Science we have made our own windsocks and used our investigative skills to test them. We have also been on an Autumn walk to King George VI Park where we looked for signs of Autumn.
