Amongst the business of SATs, 2M really enjoyed their visit from KIC Theatre. We had a chance to show off our knowledge about the different ways we can keep our bodies healthy and explored some different ways to keep them safe. The children were brilliant at putting on performances - in smaller groups, they had a chance to roleplay different scenarios with tricky social problems. They all acted out brilliant safe choices!
2M loves reading! We came to school dressed as one of our favourite book characters and we all had so much fun! First, we talked about who we were and did some roleplay as our chosen characters and pretended to meet each other for the first time. It was funny when Harry Potter talked to The BFG. Next, we drew self-portraits (selfies!) and wrote character profiles using interesting vocabulary. After that, we played a "guess-who" game where we had to guess who the book character was from reading a description. We really enjoyed making our own "guess-who" cards and then playing with those ones as well.
In RE this term we have been learning about thankfulness, peace and forgiveness. We have talked about times when we have needed to forgive somebody as well as times when we have needed to be forgiven. We used our fingers to write something that we have done wrong in the past in the tray of sand and then shook it to wash it away, which shows how forgiveness gives us a clean slate and a fresh start. We also wrote on a piece of recycled paper and put "I forgive you" on the other side, then scrunched it up and threw it away, which represents God forgiving our sins.
2M have been very creative this term. We have recreated some Rio Carnival masks, created a Nativity scene collage in a shoe box in RE, decorated egg boxes to look like crocodiles for English, created Pop Art style pictures of the Eiffel Tower on our French Day, painted a colour wash to make an African sunset, and much more! We have really enjoyed showing our learning in different subjects through Art, and our creations look amazing.
In 2M we have been learning about how to keep our bodies healthy. We know that we need to eat a balanced diet, get plenty of exercise and to wash regularly with soap and water. We used green paint to show how easily germs can spread around the classroom and practised washing our hands thoroughly to prevent them spreading. Remembering how to wash our hands properly will be easy now that we know the Clean Hands rap!
