At Birchington we are committed to ensuring that our ICT Systems are secure and we provide a safe and enjoyable environment.
We have put in place a variety of polices and measures to ensure that your children get the most out of their time online while remaining safe and secure.
The measures Birchington Primary have put in place include:-
All computers connected to our network are monitored and all user activity is recorded
The school internet connection is filtered to ensure that any inappropriate websites, videos, audio, text, and games are blocked from the users access
An E-Safety and Internet Policy are in place to advise staff and parents/carers what is and what is not acceptable in school
Staff and pupils are regularly reminded by the ICT Co-ordinator and ICT Technician about safe internet use
A regular sweep is made of users history, internet temporary files and users network storage areas to ensure that users are not archiving illegal or inappropriate material
Sites such as Youtube, Bebo, Facebook, Twitter & Bit-torrents are blocked as well as access to external e-mail systems such as Hotmail and Yahoo Mail
Access to chat rooms and chat clients like MSN Live Messenger, Skype and other chat clients is restricted by our software policy running on the network
Our staff benefit from receiving E-Safety training from two school based, Think U Know Trainers. This enables staff to know what to look out for on children's accounts and while they use the internet. Staff knowledge is regularly updated through training to encompass what's new in the internet world
A CEOP report internet abuse button is at the top of this page and at the front page of our website so children or parents/carers can get assistance if they/you feel they may be in danger whilst online
If you suspect it - report it!
