On Tuesday 16th July, 2D visited Pegwell Country Park for the day. We saw lots of features of a coastal landscape and triedto find as many things as we could on our Eye Spy sheet. We also decorated some pebbles and left them behind for people to find. We used some flowers, leaves and twigs to create our own nature art work too. We all had a fantastic day in the sun!
After we had all finished our SATS tests, we spent an afternoon reading together with the Year 6 children on the field. Everyone in Year 2 was paired up with someone in Year 6 and we shared a picture book from the library together. It was lovely to spend time reading with new people – especially as the sun was shining!
In 2D, we went on a walk around the school grounds as part of our Habitats science topic. We made predictions about the living things that we might see and then recorded our results. We found animals and plants on our habitat walk. The scariest thing we found was a huge spider! We also saw seagulls, worms, daisies, grass and snails.
During Term 3, 2D have been learning about the properties of different 2D shapes. We sorted these shapes and named each group using what we know about the vertices, faces and edges of each shape.
2D really enjoyed French day this term. We learnt the words for colours in French and played a matching game on the interactive whiteboard. We also used the French words to colour in a picture of Elmer the Elephant. Our favourite part of French Day was making a collage of the Eiffel Tower using gold shiny paper cut into different shapes.
2D have been learning about the Great Fire of London. For part of our topic, we were visited by Kent Fire and Rescue Service to learn about how things have changed. We got to learn all about what the fire men and women wear and what to do in an emergency.
