We have had a very exciting first term in 2D! We have been lucky enough to have some visitors into school to help us with our learning.
At the start of term, we had a visit from Ian at KIC theatre. He ran a drama workshop with us to help us with our learning about the Great Fire of London. We used our drama skills to sweep Thomas Farriner’s bakery, try to escape the fire and even try to put it out with leather buckets and water from the River Thames.
We also had a visitor from Pfizer’s to help us with our Science learning. We used a UV light to see how effectively we were washing our hands. We also carried out an investigation using some slices of bread to see how the germs on our hands spread to whatever we touch. After a few days the bread that we had touched went very mouldy!
At the end of term, we were lucky enough to have a visit from the Fire Service. They even brought a fire engine for us to look at! We found out about all of the different equipment that is on board a fire engine as well as the special clothes that the fire fighters have to wear. Before they left, we each got to sit inside the fire engine – the ladder was very tricky to climb!
