This term we have really been enjoying our Maths learning. We have been exploring length, capacity and weight.
During our length work the Explorers loved collecting objects from inside and outside the classroom and putting them in order from the longest to the shortest.
For capacity they explored the meaning of full, empty, half full and nearly empty and looked at the capacity of different containers. They were particularly surprised to find out the tall, thin measuring container held less water than the much shorter one!
During our weight lessons we used balance scales and found out which objects were heavier/lighter. We also completed a challenge to find out if we could get the scales to balance.
Year R had a wonderful time rehearsing and performing our Christmas Nativity. Every child played a key role in the performance, spending time learning new songs, practising dance moves and playing percussion instruments. We performed our show a number of times to school pupils and parents and carers and the children all did the school proud, well done Year R!
This term the Explorers have been making new friends, playing with new toys and equipment and learning about the rules and routines in school. We have had lots of fun exploring our forest area, riding bikes and trikes on the playground and building and creating in our outside classroom. We have had a great first term and we can't wait for the next!
