Oasis

At Birchington, we are committed to supporting the emotional wellbeing and mental health of every child. Our Oasis is a calm, nurturing and welcoming space where children can access support throughout the school day.

The Oasis provides a safe place for children to talk, be listened to and receive support with any worries, concerns or challenges they may be experiencing. Children know that they can come and see Sarah and Ellie, who are here to provide a friendly, familiar and supportive presence when they need support.

Our pastoral support extends beyond the Oasis, with a range of services and interventions available to meet the individual needs of our children. These include:

  • Pastoral support and Emotional wellbeing support

  • School Counselling
  • Play therapy

  • Therapy dog

  • Drawing and talking therapy

  • Bereavement support

  • Support from our Child Support Worker- Ellie Chapman
  • Signposting to additional services and specialist support

Our pastoral team have a range of training and experience in supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, helping us to provide sensitive and appropriate support for each individual child.

We understand that every child is unique, and sometimes children need a safe space to talk, time to regulate their emotions, or simply someone they trust to listen. The Oasis provides just that, a place where children can feel safe, heard, valued and supported.

Our aim is to help children develop the emotional skills, confidence and resilience they need to thrive, both in school and beyond.

Whatever the worry, the Oasis is always here.
