Impact of Sports Premium Funding
Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocated the funding over the previous academic year.
Sustainability of Sports Premium Funding
At Birchington Primary School, we offer our pupils a varied and exciting PE curriculum along with a varied Sport provision. Please take a look at how the Sports Premium has positively impacted our PE and Sport provision, during the past academic year, 2024-2025.
The PE and Sport Premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary aged pupils, to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles. The Premium must be spent by schools on making additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE, physical activity and sport for the benefit of all pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles. We aim to spend our sports premium money this year on sustainable improvements for our school. This may include providing the children with high quality teaching and programmes run by sports coaches at lunchtimes and purchasing new equipment to encourage healthy and active lifestyles.

Gold School Games Mark
We are delighted to announce that we, Birchington CE Primary School, have achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2024/25 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our pupils have been competing in local sporting festivals, tournaments and competitions. Our sporting events this year include: football, rugby, dance, table tennis, netball, athletics, cricket and swimming. We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
A special thanks to:
Total Sports Coaching (TSC) for their expert coaching
Thanet Primary Association for School Sport (Thanet Passport)
Leaders, teachers and teaching assistants for providing further opportunities and support with clubs and fixtures
Parents and carers
Together we have been able to provide opportunities and guidance so that our pupils can achieve their goals on the sports field. Well done Team Birchington!
We look forward to applying once again in 2026.
