It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Headteacher of Birchington Church of England Primary School. I feel extremely honoured and privileged to have been chosen to continue to develop this fantastic school onto the next stage of its journey and have loved getting to know the children, staff and governors here over the last few months. As soon as I visited the school back in January, I knew this is where I wanted to be. Birchington is a caring, inclusive, community school. Its Christian Vision and its Values of Hope, Peace, Love, Forgiveness and Respect are interwoven into the very fabric of the school.
I am a very proud mum of two beautiful sons and, as a parent, my hope has always been to ensure my children are happy in life and achieve their full potential. This is the philosophy I bring to my role as Headteacher. My goal is to ensure all children who attend Birchington CE Primary are happy, feel valued and safe and are provided with all the necessary opportunities to be the best they can be both socially and academically.
I have worked in education for over 20 years, teaching across a range of different year groups and holding a number of leadership roles, most recently as a Deputy Headteacher at a very large and successful all-through primary school and am immensely proud that I played a large role in moving the school forward to achieving Outstanding status in several areas. I feel that this provided me with some unique opportunities and experiences that I can use to drive Birchington even further forward on it’s upward journey.
At Birchington CE Primary, we have a hugely committed and talented staff team and governing body, and of course our wonderful children, which is a great place for any new Headteacher to start! With spacious grounds, excellent resources, a wide range of educational experiences and fantastic opportunities for extra-curricular activities, we offer a really exciting and bespoke curriculum.
The needs of our children are always at the heart of every decision we make. Everyone at Birchington believes in providing our children with exciting, creative and meaningful learning experiences, which build their enthusiasm for learning and help them to grow and develop positively into wonderful, kind, caring and generous human beings. Our children know they are valued, that their efforts are celebrated and that they have a voice. It is crucial to involve our children and you, their families, as partners in their education to ensure they find it a positive and rewarding experience.
I am really looking forward to meeting you all and working together very soon,
With my very best wishes,
Mrs Louise Wilson
