At Birchington CE Primary School our Christian Vision states that
“Following Jesus’ example, we forgive, respect, love and care for everyone”.
These words inspire the whole school community to engage in social action and to be courageous advocates for change in the local, national and global community.
To have a secure understanding of what courageous advocacy is, each year group explores a person across the globe, both past and present, that have faced injustice and overcome barriers in order to help others, instigate change and make a different through their actions. They are all good examples of courageous advocates.
Each year our pupils learn about the work of their special courageous advocate and create a class display telling others in the school community about what they have learnt, their reflections on what injustice some of these courageous advocates have faced and how they changed the world for the better.
